Cyan with a white edge marks your selection; its score appears beside the model. Simplified anatomical reference. Body shape changes the model, not assumed pain tolerance. Left and right sides share scores.

Pain is personal. Scores are a guide; experiences vary by person, session and technique. Not medical advice.

REAL PEOPLE. DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES.

The conversation: chest / breast

Latest 30 published experiences for this area and its related broader placements. Each story identifies the area originally rated. Numbing-assisted experiences are labeled and excluded from the colour-map average.

I’m Justin Mammoliti, the collector behind JustINKD. Between my own tattoo journey, conversations with artists and collectors, and experiences people share in video comments, I’ve heard just how differently the same spot can feel.

I made these personal charts while being tattooed, recording what different areas felt like to me during those sessions. They capture my experience—not a universal pain scale. Even my own charts show variation.

This project brings those notes together with published research, practitioner guidance and public collector discussions. Now you can add your experience, too.

TRANSPARENT BY DESIGN

What the colours can—and can’t—tell you.

1. The starting guide

Compact editorial reference bands from a comparison of four numerical practitioner guides, cross-checked against additional tattoo charts, artist guidance and public firsthand discussions. The colour represents the band midpoint. These are not measured averages, confidence intervals or limits on your pain: experiences can fall outside them. Smaller placements often inherit broader-area estimates. The linked PDF shows source scores, disagreements, evidence gaps and clearly labeled interpretations of qualitative descriptions. Forum anecdotes are context, not measured averages. Published research does not validate precise scores for every spot on the body.

2. The community map

The arithmetic mean of published ratings for each area, from people who report no numbing product use. Each verified email contributes once per area; updates replace that rating. We show the sample size and observed range. Small, self-selected samples are not population predictions.

3. Your experience

Email verification and submission limits help reduce repeat voting. Experiences publish immediately; abusive contributions can be removed. Different experiences and pain ratings are welcome. Multiple email addresses and untrue reports remain possible; no anonymous system can guarantee honesty.

The male/female switch changes the reference shape only. Both models share the same region averages. Session length, technique, exact placement and individual circumstances can matter. A larger score is not a badge of toughness.
